Susan Torr

Susan opened the trekking centre fourteen years ago,  after many years experience competing at open team chasing and affiliated show jumping.  Susan has a great interest in breeding her own horses, which are mainly by the Stallion Blue Horizon. Many of them go on to compete at eventing and showjumping. Susan is a regular on the hunting field season after season with her hunter Eclipse and has an enviable reputation for being fearless and a fantastic horse woman.  

Rebecca Torr

Rebecca is Susan’s daughter.  She events and show jumps the homebred horses.  She also enjoys hunting.  She is putting her events management degree to use by helping run the family trekking business.  She helps with the marketing and website.

Vicky is on the British Horse Society of registered instructors.  UKCC (UK coaching certificate) Level 2, working towards level 3. She has 17 years of coaching experience and has trained with top riders such as Michelle Fox, Karen Dixon, Nigel Taylor, Jeanette Brakewell and Caroline Moore.  Vicky has been BE eventing for 8 years with numerous top ten placings.  Vicky trains horses for other people and  coaches riders of all levels and abilities.  Vicky rides one of Susan’s horses called Bounce who she events and show jumps.  Vicky teaches the lessons we run on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Gemma Woolley
Breaking and schooling

Gemma has worked at the trekking centre for over 10 years.  She breaks all the young horses in that we have bred.  She has lots of patience and expertise in this area.  She also takes in other horses for breaking when time allows.  Gemma has recently graduated from Myerscough College with a BSc (Hons) in Equine Science and Management. She has her own horse’s and enjoys competing in eventing and showjumping.  She will also be commencing a course in Animal Physiotherapy in September.  All the horses at the trekking centre are looking forward to receiving treatment from her in the near future.
